We are delighted to be able to hold some of our talks in the Quarry Theatre and the first of those saw Peter Goodhew present “Imaging Planetary Nebula“. With some stunning new images never before seen in the public domain, Peter explained how these were captured and the science contained in their colour. Peter’s talk enlightened us to the fact that it is expert amateur imagers using remote auto telescopes to provide image data, that aid and complement professional astronomers in their studies of planetary nebula. This is of great assistance to them as professionals cannot afford or justify applying for and spending the time needed on their large aperture telescope facilities to identify and confirm these objects.
