Welcome to BAS

BAS Gallery

For 25 years, Bedford Astronomical Society has been bringing astronomy to the good people of Bedford, and the surrounding areas. We are a friendly and informal society with over 90 members taking part in a variety of activites.

We hold regular meetings, where we bring professional astronomers and scientists to talk on a variety of subjects, observing sessions, present to local schools and social groups, and support the outreach programme of Bedford School's Piazzi Smyth Observatory

You can find lots more information about us, the observatory and the activies we get up to, on this site, but if you have any questions, please do get in touch via our Contact page

AGM

The BAS AGM is to be held on the 29th May in the Resource Room. Your attendance is important as there are important votes to be held this year

Sadly, our Chairman, Darren Jehan, will not be standing for the Committee this year due to work commitments. We are, of course, sad to see Darren step down but pleased he will still be an active member of the society.

Further information on the AGM can be found in the members area. If you need the password, please contact Peter Ashwell who will forward on to you

Useful Reports

To help you in your observing planning (yes, we know the current weather is NOT the best for observing!!) we have put up some reports that we hope you find useful. These take the form of Ephemeris reports for the planets - and can be found via the Useful Reports menu option at the top of the page. The Lunar Data page has also had two similar reports incorporated

Over time, we'll include some additional reports of interesting objects - especially the two comets ISON and PANSTARRS and NEO 2012 DA 14

If there are any other of these type of reports you would like to see, please get in touch!
