Please feel free to browse the site and see who we are and what we do! You are welcome to get in touch to ask about the society, or general questions on astronomy.

Our site is mobile-friendly as well, so you can get us on the move!

On Sunday 15th January, members of BAS are invited to attend an unveiling of a 'blue plaque' to celebrate Admiral William Smyths observatory - the largest in England at the time - and BAS reaching the grand age of 30! Current residents, Shaun and Anne Atkins, have kindly invited all to their house for the ceremony, and to enjoy a glass of something warming! If the weather looks clear, BAS will be taking a telescope or two for members to enjoy. Please can you respond to Peter Ashwell (you should have received an email with an invitation) so we can confirm numbers to Shaun and Anne.
A reminder that any member wishing to bring a proposal to the April AGM must submit it to the Committee ahead of the March Committee Meeting (March 8th)
